Quick note: VB-G RAM G stands for Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin). It replaced MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) from 1 July 2026 and now guarantees up to 125 days of wage employment per rural household in a financial year.
If you demand work under VB-G RAM G and do not get it within 15 days, you are legally entitled to an unemployment allowance. Most workers never claim it simply because they do not know about it.
How the Allowance Works
- Applies when work is not provided within 15 days of a dated demand
- Paid at one-fourth of the wage rate for the first 30 days
- Rises to one-half of the wage rate thereafter
- The cost is borne by the state government
