Quick note: VB-G RAM G stands for Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin). It replaced MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) from 1 July 2026 and now guarantees up to 125 days of wage employment per rural household in a financial year.
VB-G RAM G funds durable community and individual assets. Works are chosen through the Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan and aligned with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.
Categories of Permitted Works
- Water conservation: ponds, check dams, percolation tanks, recharge structures
- Drought proofing: afforestation, tree plantation, pasture development
- Irrigation: canals, field channels, renovation of traditional water bodies
- Rural connectivity: all-weather village roads, culverts
- Individual assets: farm ponds, wells, cattle sheds, land development for eligible households
- Sanitation and rural infrastructure: soak pits, compost pits, Anganwadi buildings
How Works Are Selected
- The Gram Sabha proposes works for the annual plan.
- The Gram Panchayat prepares the shelf of works and labour budget.
- Plans are integrated with the district plan and PM Gati Shakti mapping.
- Sanctioned works open as demand for labour arises.
